Olaf Pooley was a British actor known for his roles in such sci-fi hits as Star Trek and Doctor Who. His recurring role in Doctor Who as Professor Eric Stahlman was probably his biggest gig as it was a recurring one. Sadly this great actor died last week in Los Angeles at 101 years old.
Pooley was established in the West End Theater. He was a part of the original cast of Noel Coward's Peace in Our Time and he was also in Twelve Angry Men, The Tempest and Othello. Moreover, the actor served as a guest director at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London and once directed Anthony Hopkins in the Waltz of the Toreadors.
Pooley's earliest film credit came in 1948. Back then he had a role in the movie Penny and the Pownall Case. In the later years of his life he became a painter and permanent artist, having worked out of the Santa Monica Art Studios in California.
Pooley is survived by his son, daughter and four grandchildren. A Go Fund Me page has been put together to fly in his daughter and granddaughters in from London.
