Sandra Bland Funeral Service Held Saturday in Chicago [PHOTOS]

MStars News has learned that a funeral service for Sandra Bland was held on Saturday (July 25) following her controversial death and reports that the woman who was pulled over by a Texas state trooper allegedly killed herself while in jail.

Bland's name has remained in headline news after she was arrested for a traffic stop in Waller County, Texas on July 10 and found dead in her jail cell from what is now being ruled as a suicide three days after the arrest by state Trooper Brian T. Encinia for "failing to signal before making a lane change."

Bland's official autopsy ruled that she caused her own death, but others have questioned the details that led to her death. After a video surfaced showing Bland's harsh arres, outraged people all over the nation now suspect foul play and believe that something happened while Bland was behind bars trying to make bail.

Now mourners are still left with confusion as they celebrated the life of the 28-year-old in her hometown of Chicago on Saturday. According to VIBE, Bland's funeral was held at the DuPage African Methodist Episcopal Church and was officiated by the Rev. Dr. James F. Miller.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Bland's mother, Geneva Reed-Veal, spoke at her daughter's service and said: "I'm the mama, and I'm telling you that my baby did not take herself out," Reed-Veal said. "The fact is, I'm the mama. And I still don't know what happened. You think you're mad? I'm mad too."

Reed-Veal revealed to the congregation that she had a strained relationship with her daughter in recent years. She shared that she was lucky that she and her daughter spent time together and even went on a road trip just a few weeks before she died.

"We talked about things she'd done and was disappointed by, and said she was sorry. I said I was sorry," Reed-Veal stated. "To have had that last week with her cleared up everything." Reed-Veal reflected on the last words her daughter spoke, which is chilling considering the fact that she wanted to move South to put an end to the injustices against blacks. "Sandy knew what her purpose was," Bland's mother said. "Some call it a tragedy. Some call it a travesty. But I've got to call it testimony."
