Did MTV's 'Scream' Already Give Away the Killer's Identity?

MTV's Scream is intensifying an utilizing the franchise's notoriety for throwing out red herrings. So many suspects were brought up in this past week's episode that it's got fans on the edge of their seats for the upcoming episode premiering this Tuesday night! We have the hotty-hot naughty English teacher (Bobby Campo) who is sleeping with a student, a Brooke's (Carlson Young) father who claims that Mom went to rehab, when we find footage of him disposing of a wrapped-up corpse. There are just so many possibilities and it's up to the team of high school survivors in order to track down the real killer. Tuesday marked the fifth episode, "Exposed," and we can only get excited for more. Entertainment Weekly even had their own theory as to what the show was trying to do and what clues they were dropping. "Maybe Daisy, a.k.a. Emma's mother Maggie (Tracy Middendorf), is actually her mother -- the mother who gave her up for adoption because she didn't want to keep the product of a killer around? And now Piper's killing off her half-sister's friends as recompense for the loss of her father and, in turn, a normal childhood, all culminating in the death of Emma [(Willa Fitzgerald)]. However, you know the heroine never dies in the story, so really the Sarah Koenig-wannabe will end up ultimately dying in some ridiculously over-the-top fashion that includes being shot, hit by a car, and eventually decapitated -- because unless you decapitate them, the killer is never truly dead," EW says. Fans will just have to wait and see this Tuesday night, and knowing the franchise, maybe we won't even find out until the finale!

In addition to killer theories, just this Wednesday it was announced that the show is successful enough that it will be renewed for a second season. TVLine reports, "[W]e are thrilled by how our viewers have responded to the reinvention of Scream," reads a statement from MTV EVP Mina Lefevre. "We look forward to another season filled with suspense, horror and more twists and turns." Scream fans will be excited to know that TV Fanatic says, "Producers also hope to keep most of the same cast on board (those who survive, that is!), and to explore bigger questions and mysteries in the series' second season. Scream stars who are still hanging on for dear life include Bex Taylor-Klaus, John Karna, Willa Fitzgerald, Tracy Middendorf and Jason Wiles." We will have to see if all of our lead team survives first!
