Director Josh Trank most likely understood the immense undertaking of rebooting the Marvel Comics film adaptation of Fantastic Four. 20th Century Fox cast promising leads in Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell, Toby Kebbell, and more, but was that enough for a blockbuster hit? According to some early reviews around the Internet and (mostly) on Twitter, the movie falls short of expectations. We've seen mostly negative reviews so far and compiled a selection below. Find out what critics are saying about this new movie, in theaters this weekend, below.

"If anything, Fantastic Four is an example of what happens when a director and studio are clearly not working in sync," reports The Playlist in its early review of the film. "Often out of alignment, and missing a clear creative guiding vision, Fantastic Four is not ready for the multiplex battle ahead."
That's not even the worst review we've heard! The Hollywood Reporter said the movie "feels like a 100-minute trailer for a movie that never happens."
Generally though, reviews are harsh about its ending and the direction of Trank, but there's plenty of praise for the cast.
Slash Film compiled a slew of great examples of poor reviews that are saying basically the same thing: the movie was fine and possibly really good up until its ending. Check out some Twitter reviews right here:
first 2/3 of FANTASTIC FOUR had me. The 3rd act is like a different movie & not in a good way. Worth seeing. But keep expectations in check.

I'm really curious about the behind the scenes of the FANTASTIC FOUR 3rd act of because it's so disappointing compared to rest of the movie. — Steven Weintraub (@colliderfrosty) August 5, 2015
So, uh, I liked FANTASTIC FOUR? First 2/3rds are really good, fizzles in the finale but I would happily continue with this cast/world.
