Complications continues on USA Network with an all-new episode. In tonight's Episode 9, are Doctor John Ellison (Jason O'Mara) and his nurse Gretchen Polk (Jessica Szohr), alongside gangster Darius Bishop (Chris Chalk), in danger of becoming "unclean?"
In our previous recap, Dr. John Ellison (Mara) is a suburban doctor who used to be at the top of his game in the emergency room. Outside of work, Ellison is dealing with the emotional downfall of his daughter's death. With the loss of his daughter, Ellison suddenly finds redemption after he saves a young boy's life from a drive-by shooting. Gretchen (Szohr), a street-smart ER nurse, is caught in the middle when Ellison becomes involved in a gang war led by Darius Bishop (Chalk).
In our recent recap, John argued with Darius over the loss of lives with an impending gang war, John's wife Samantha (Beth Riesgraf) become involved after discovering his connection to Detective Holden. Gretchen arrived in the nick of time to save John as he was attacked by a rival gang. Knowing his marriage is in trouble again, John decided to tell the whole truth to his angry wife.
In an interview with Sioux City Journel, the Life on Mars actor reveals behind-the-scenes scoop of playing a physician, "It's actually quite hard. In addition to remembering those medical terms, you've got to be able to dispense a hypodermic needle -- one which is real and one which is retractable, so it looks like it's going in a patient's arm. Halfway through the scene, these props guys come in and hand you things and you're trying to find the emotion in the scene. It's really, really difficult."
Mara adds, "You end up knowing a little about a lot of things. I'm no expert on anything but I can bore you to death with my own take on everything."
Complications continues for two more episodes on USA Network Thursdays at 9pm.
