'The Flash' Season 2 Spoilers: Will Grant Gustin/Barry Allen Meet Keiynan Lonsdale/Wally West?

With the first season cliffhanger leaving audiences hanging, the CW network is already underway with Season 2 of The Flash. In their latest casting annoucement, Will Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) have a confrontation with Wally West aka Kid Flash (Keiynan Lonsdale)?

In our first season recap, Barry Allen finally woke up from his coma, after being struck by lightning. Given super-speed powers, Barry belonged to small group of friends, Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker), and Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes), who knew his secret identity. They worked together against super villains, including Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller), and teamed up with the Arrow (Stephen Amell). But they never realized their true enemy was lurking within, The Reverse-Flash (Tom Cavanagh).

In the first season finale, a rift in the time stream was torn open after the Reverse Flash was finally defeated and wiped out from history. Unfortunately, the innocent citizens of Central City were caught in the crossfire, as the the rift threatened to obliterate everything. While Captain Cold was helping the running crowd find safety, Hawkgirl (Ciara Renee) was staring out, in shock and awe, at the growing rift.

According to TV Line, the Insurgent actor will play the nephew of Iris West (played by Candice Patton), just like in the DC Comics mythology. Will Wally West end up in a relationship with Linda Park (Malese Jow), who becomes his future wife? In the New 52 comics, Wally is a punk who gets in trouble with the law; a far different interpretation from the other clean cut iterations.

Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg states, "Just like when we met [star] Grant [Gustin] for the first time, we instantly knew Keiynan embodied all the heart and courage of a hero. We are so excited to be bringing this much-beloved character onto the show."

With his arrival in the winter, will the show follow the comics as Wally ends up getting struck by lightning and becoming the next scarlet speedster? Will Kid Flash takeover as The Flash, who's destined to meet his demise in Infinite Crisis?

Season One ofThe Flash arrives on DVD and Blu-Ray September 22, 2015.
