Rapper Rick Ross also-known-as William Roberts was almost a victim of a drive-by shooting in Fort Lauderdale Monday morning. Ross was driving his Rolls Royce on Los Olas Boulevard around 5 a.m. when he was shot at causing him to crash into an apartment complex when the car turned the corner lost control, according to Fort Lauderdale Police.
It had been rumored that Ross and his girlfriend, Shateria Moragne-el were injured, but WSVN had confirmed that the two had escaped without injuries. Ross had been in the area celebrating his birthday at a restaurant and later partied at club LIV in Miami Beach.
For months now, Ross had been engaging in heated threats from North Carolina chapter of the Gangster Disciples. The gang is upset with the rapper and feel that Ross, "disrespected their founder by shouting out Hoover's name on his track "B.M.F. (Blowin' Money Fast)" and using their gang symbols on the cover of his Black Bar Mitzvah mixtape. The MMG rapper had rumored to have cancelled tours due to threats made by the gang, but the Ross denies the threats being reasoning of cancellation. Once a Gangster Disciples, Harold "Noonie G" Ward used to be a high ranking and has changed his ways since then and has become an activist. The "OG" warns Rick Ross, "I don't personally know why Rick Ross cancelled his tour, nor do I personally care. What I do care about however is the ongoing tension that is building between him and factors of the GD nation. If Rick Ross is really 'The Boss' he proclaims to be, then he would recognize that what goes on in the streets effects all of us. It's not about flossin' or talking tough on a radio station. Rick ought to know that he is not dealing with no punks. Beef that is not squashed can get out of hand. Tupac and Biggie proved that."
It's not clear whether the rapper was a target of the North Carolina chapter of the Gangster Disciples and no suspects have been caught.
