The highly anticipated hacker drama, Mr. Robot, continues on USA Network. In the upcoming Episode 9, how will hacker Elliot (Rami Malek) protect Angela (Portia Doubleday) after making his shocking connection to anarchist Mr. Robot (Christian Slater), that even she doesn't know about?
In our previous recap, while Elliot confessed to his therapist (Gloria Rueben) that he needs to hack to escape loneliness, Evil Corp's SVP of Technology Tyrell Wellick continued his plan to climb up the corporate ladder. After being passed up for promotion, Tyrell and his wife sought revenge against the man who took the high status from him. While Tyrell seduced his way and had an affair with the executive's wife, he ended up strangling her to death. Angela discovered her attempts to hit Evil Corp will also hurt everyone at AllSafe.
In our recent recap, after discovering Angela was in trouble, Elliot had to hack into his Gideon's email and remove the honeypot for the Dark Army. Realizing the revolution is happening, Elliot kissed Darlene, which freaked her out. After hacking himself, unlocking the photos in a CD, Elliot discovered Darlene is his sister and Mr. Robot is his father.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, Malek reveals Elliot's mindset, "You're talking about a guy who, from the beginning of the series, explains that he's creating an imaginary person in his head and everyone watching is a part of that. I think the more we get to know Elliot the more you'll realize what exactly his reality is and I think he'll also come to realize what his reality is. And as vague as that sounds, I think these questions are going to keep coming up well beyond this first season."
Check out what Twitter had to say about Elliot's shocking revelation:
Malek adds, "There are moments of altruism but there are also moments that are purely self-indulgent, and whether or not he acknowledges that is something I think he's going to come to terms with in the future. Maybe that will lead to a more destructive Elliot or someone who people can latch on and emulate to a certain degree. But I think that's what's so captivating about him is he's very human. In his attempt to be superhuman you realize just how flawed he is and how relatable he is. He's a complicated dude."
