A major casting announcement has been made for Season 5 of Person of Interest on CBS. When the show returns in 2016, Sarah Shahi (Sameen Shaw) will indeed reunite with Michael Emerson (Finch), Jim Caviezel (Reese), and Root Amy Acker (Root) during their 13 episode run.
In our finale recap, we last saw Sameen Shaw walking away willingly with Samaritan's agents, possibly because she was brainwashed. As Samaritan's agents took out Elias and Dominic, Greer's men put a bag over Control's face and took her hostage. As Pink Floyd's Welcome to the Machine started playing, Finch walked out, with no gun, alongside Reese and Root as they started shooting down Samaritan's agents.
As we previously mentioned, the cast and crew of POI conquered San Diego Comic Con for what appeared to be the last time for the show. This was the opportunity for POI cast and crew to finally address the rumors about the upcoming 13 episodes. If this is the last season, showrunner Jonathan Nolan revealed, "I can't predict down the road but we're very proud of the show and if it's the last season, no one is going to be disappointed with the story we tell."
Due to her pregnancy, Shahi had to leave POI and would give the okay to creator Jonathan Nolan when she could return. Nolan stated he had a "killer" storyline setup for Sameen's return. As we mentioned before, a video starring Caviezel was released on Facebook, revealing the cast and crew are back at work.
According to TV Line, an announcement was made at CBS' Television Critics Association press tour party. Though she was on maternity leave, Sarah Shahi s returning for the fifth and supposedly final season.
Shahi reveals, "I go back in September - full-time. I'll probably do eight or nine" of the the 13 episodes.
As for how Shaw will return to the storyline, the Ray Donovan actress admits with a laugh, "I have no idea what the plan is."
But when Sameeen returns, will she turn out to be a friend or foe to Team Machine?
In an interview with TV Guide, co-POI Showrunner Greg Plageman adds, "You will see her very early in the season, and once you see her, she will always be on the show for the remainder of the show."
Person of Interest returns to CBS during midseason.
Readers, are you excited to see the return of Sarah Shahi?
