Ellen DeGeneres attended the D23 Expo this past weekend, where she announced the Finding Dory movie, revealing some major details surrounding the Pixar film. The Ellen Show host raised the enthusiasm of fans and audience members who are looking forward to the Finding Nemo sequel, and even shared details on the cast. The movie is set to also star Ed O’Neill who voices a cantankerous octopus named Hank, Ty Burrell voicing a misguided beluga whale named Bailey, Kaitlin Olsen who voices a kind-hearted shark named Destiny, as well as Diane Keaton and Eugene Levy who voice Dory’s parents.
“This is so exciting for me. I'm so proud of this film. I'm so excited for you to see this,” Ellen told audience members at the D23 Expo.
On top of meeting the cast, we also know the official synopsis of the upcoming film. The synopsis states, “Dory, who suffers from short-term memory loss, has vague recollections of her parents. She decides she must go find them, and ends up in a marine institute where animals are cared for. That's where we meet the new creatures."
Convention-goers also got a first look at the movie, which showed a scene between Dory and Marlin, the father of Nemo, who tells her that he knows a guy that may be able to help her find her parents. The following scene shown previews Dory discussing the matter with Hank, the octopus, who suggests she give him the tag that is labeled on her fin.
So far, none of the footage has been released to the public, but it hopefully won’t be long until we are able to see a real preview.
Finding Dory is set to hit theaters everywhere on June 17, 2016, so we will be able to kick off our summers with the exciting sequel film.
