"Same Chair. Different Ass," says the tagline of comedian Trevor Noah's first Daily Show promo. The comic, who will be replacing longtime host Jon Stewart, will take to that very same chair on Sept. 28. Stewart left the show back on Aug. 6 – delivering one stellar finale – and there has been much speculation from the media and fans alike as to how the young South African comic will do. But after watching the promos, and even several of his stand-up spots, it seems safe to say that he'll be just fine.
Comedy Central dropped Noah's new Daily Show teaser on Tuesday. Back by Kanye West's track "POWER," Noah comes out in sheer boxing-like form, ready to take the belt from the once-upon-a-time champ – Jon Stewart.
Naturally, it's not the first video we've seen for Noah's new show; the comic dropped a small video just before Jon Stewart left, in which he was attempting to get a feel for the program.
Noah was named the new host of The Daily Show back in March of this year. He worked at the show for only a little bit but obviously seemed to make an impact throughout his time, appearing in segments such as "Spot the Africa" and "Chess News Roundup."
After word broke about him replacing Stewart, there was much talk – largely negative – surrounding the choice. The main question from many throughout the nation seemed to be: "Who is this guy?" To which Stewart was quick to defend.
Jon Stewart unexpectedly became the go-to for many millennials, and then some, during his tenure at The Daily Show. With Trevor Noah stepping it, many are curious as to whether or not the young stand-up can fill the same shoes.
The Daily Show with Trevor Noah kicks off on Comedy Central this coming Sept. 28.
