'Marvel's Luke Cage' Spoilers: Will Mike Colter, Krysten Ritter Meet Netflix's "Diamondback?"

With Season 2 of Marvel's Daredevil underway, major announcement has been made for the next Netflix superhero series, Marvel's Luke Cage. Will the hero-for-hire, Carl Lucas aka Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) meet super villain known as Diamondback?

As we previously mentioned, Carl Lucas' origin story begins with him being framed for a crime he didn't commit. Wanting to get revenge for the alleged drug bust, the wrongfully accused criminal volunteers for an experimental treatment at the prison. The chemical compounds end up giving him superhuman strength and durability.

Luke Cage will first appear in an episode of Marvel's AKA Jessica Jones. During an investigation in New York City, the super-powered private investigator (Ritter) will encounter the enigmatic superhero. His secrets will dramatically alter Jessica in ways she could never have imagined.

According to IGN, there may be a new love interest and villain for the upcoming superhero drama. In the Marvel Universe, Diamondback and Luke Cage were friends who were attracted to the same woman, Reva Connors. Because he did not win Reva Connors' heart, Diamondback framed Luke Cage for a crime he didn't commit.

As Heroic Hollywood states, the leaked plot synopsis reveals, ""Luke Cage is a former gang member who is framed for a crime. In prison, he volunteers for a medical experiment that goes awry, giving him super strength and bulletproof skin. Using his newfound powers, Cage escapes and becomes a hero for hire. His archenemy is Willy Stryker, a former childhood friend from Harlem. The two committed petty crimes together, and both fell for the same woman, Reva Connors, which led to their eventual falling out. It was Stryker who framed Cage for a drug deal that sent him to prison."

As we mentioned before, the State of Affairs actress, Alfre Woodard, is finalizing her deal to star opposite Colter in the superhero drama. The character breakdown has her listed as as Minetta, a powerful woman in local politics who will have an impact on Luke Cage's vigilante lifestyle. Minetta may possibly be a version of Marvel villain Black Mariah, a nemesis in both Luke Cage and the upcoming Iron Fist series, which hasn't been casted yet.
