It's being reported that a mother in Arizona was arrested on first-degree murder charges for having killed her twins by drowning. She reportedly killed her 2-year-old children because "nobody loved them and nobody loved her."

Per a report from The Washington Post, Mireya Alejandra Lopez, 22, was not only arrested on the first-degree murder charge, but she also reportedly attempted to drown a third child before being stopped.

Court documents reveal that Lopez held the children face-down in the bathtub. When asked why, she responded saying that no one loved both her and the children.

The authorities were called once Lopez's mother discovered the children lying wet and naked on the bed. Having initially believed them to have been sleeping, she tried waking them up. And when she discovered she couldn't, she immediately dialed the police. It was at that time that the children's' grandmother found Lopez trying to drown the third child, her 3-year-old stepbrother.

The grandmother fought for the child, trying to "physically grab" him away from Lopez.

"Ms. Lopez said she thought it was better for them to be at peace than to have to live with the same difficulties she has," claimed the documents.

The docs further read that Lopez "suffers from manic depression, psychosis and schizophrenia," and is currently taking medication for the illnesses.

Before the horrific incident went down, the twins' father, Sam Avitia, spoke with KPHO and shared that he was scheduled to pick up his children later on in the day. He further admitted that though he was aware of Lopez's aforementioned "depression and anxiety" she never once tried to harm their kids to his knowledge.
