Bette Midler to Play Amy Schumer, Jennifer Lawrence's Mom in New Movie?

As if it weren't enough that comedian Amy Schumer and actress Jennifer Lawrence are best friends, but wouldn't it be absolutely fantastic if singer-actress Bette Midler played their mother in the upcoming film that the two are writing? Midler tweeted the other day expressing the desire to play the role of the two real-life BFFs in their new comedy they are currently finishing up writing, People reports.

She also has mentioned in the past that she adores Jennifer Lawrence in particular. Yahoo! News is reporting, "This isn't the first time the renowned actress has admitted to being a J.Law fan. In 2014, she defended the 25-year-old A-lister after she came under fire for quoting Midler's First Wives Club 'I beat Meryl' joke during her Golden Globes speech. 'Jennifer Lawrence is so charming that she could run me over with her car and I'd send her a thank you note,' Midler tweeted at the time."

She would be a perfect casting choice and it would bring Midler back into the spotlight as a comedic actress.

Most recently Midler has been set to star in a TV movie called The Third Coast where she plays a "larger than life casting director in New Mexico." Her last film before this one was Parental Guidance, released in 2012, starring Billy Crystal and Marisa Tomei. She is probably most recognized for her films from the 80s and 90s like First Wives Club, Hocus Pocus (which she has very openly mentioned that she would love to collaborate with Disney for a sequel to the now Halloween-time favorite), Beaches, and her TV rendition of Mama Rose in Gypsy.

Let's hope not only might Lawrence and Schumer take her up on her idea, but that we can look forward to Hocus Pocus 2 for an upcoming Halloween!

Back in November, BuzzFeed reported that Midler said, "The outpouring of love from Hocus-ites has been astounding. The creativity of their Sanderson sisters costumes, posters, artwork, t-shirts, statues, TV stills, photos, compliments and line quotes have blown up social media and I want them to know...We see and appreciate it all. When a film is being shot, you never quite know the impact.. If it'll be a hit or a miss, and..with this one ... we hear y'all loud and clear! A sequel is totally in The Disney company's hands- And it will be exciting to see what transpires!"

This would all be fantastic! Let's keep our fingers crossed or have Midler sing a spell over those executives!
