"At Hulu, we pride ourselves on listening to our customers and giving them the best possible experience," Hulu CEO Mike Hopkins said in the official press release accompanying this announcement. "Many of our customers have asked us for a commercial free option, and so today we are excited to introduce just that. Providing more choice for consumers is fundamental to the Hulu experience, in addition to an array of choices in content and devices, our customers can now choose to watch with or without commercials."
According to this announcement, current subscribers have the option to upgrade to the commercial-free option or stick with the limited advertisements version that's been offered.
The press release goes on to list a number of reasons why the streaming service is so great. This includes partnerships with EPIX, Lionsgate, MGM and Paramount providing movies for viewers as well as an impressive list of current and upcoming original programming.
"We knew that we had to make a lot of investments in content so that we could stand apart and make some headway against the competition," Hopkins said according to The New York Times.
