The New York Giant's star wide receiver Victor Cruz is most likely ruled out of play for the season 2015 NFL season opener on Sept. 13, 2015 due to a calf injury. He's also recovering from recent knee surgery and is definitely missing his team's final preseason game this week. So it looks like Cruz will miss week one of the season, which means Fantasy Football League owners should pay attention. Keep reading for draft tips and bench options below.

"Calves are tricky," Cruz told reporters this week, according to The NY Post. "I think I'll be ready to go. Hopefully, come Week 1, I'm able to get on the practice field and run around a little bit. I know how Coach Coughlin ... if you don't practice, you don't play, so I want to be out here for practice come Week 1. Nothing's been set in stone in terms of playing that first week or not playing the first week, so I'm still excited for Week 1, that's still the goal, that's still the plan in my opinion."
Just now on @SiriusXMFantasy, @DanGrazianoESPN told me that Victor Cruz is "very much in doubt" for Week 1. Not looking good.

What does this mean for Fantasy owners, though? Well, according to Fantasy Pros writer and Giants correspondent Blaine Blontz, Cruz is a risky draft pick and his injury history should devalue his current ranking, which is in the top 40s among receivers.
It's clearly a toss-up, but if you have Cruz already, you definitely need to sit him and search your bench for a better option. Or you could simply drop him if you're not willing to hold onto a risky player.
