Aquaman has been a much-maligned character in comic book lore, despite his considerable power. But Jason Momoa's portrayal of the character in Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice could change all that, as the actor thinks the jokes will stop after the film is released n 2016.
Momoa appeared at Fan Expo Canada in 2015 in Toronto over the weekend, and the actor received numerous questions about his role in the movie. ScreenRelish posted a video of the panel, which you can view at the bottom of the page, and in it Momoa comments about the more serious nature of the character in Zack Snyder's film.
"I can't see me busting out a bunch of jokes," he said. "I mean, I don't think it'll be like that."
Momoa also would not confirm or deny if Aquaman actually clashes with Batman or Superman during the course of the movie.
The actor first garnered mainstream success with his portrayal of Khal Drogo on Game of Thrones. So when he officially joined the highly-anticipated superhero movie as Aquaman, many fans expected a more gruff and gritty portrayal. But Momoa told fans, in a joking way, to measure their expecations. "I don't think Aquaman's going to be raping and pillaging any villages," he said.
Finally, Momoa addressed how he hopes that Dawn of Justice will change the way people discuss Aquaman, who has been the butt of so many jokes over the years. "You know, it's cute and funny, I mean people make fun of him and there's a bunch of jokes about him," he said. "But I'm like 'Well... just wait. Let's just wait a little bit. And then we can make jokes...'"
