Star Wars Battlefront is easily one of the most anticipated video games of 2015, and with a release date set for November, Beta gameplay and teasers are all we can talk about for now. In a new developer's blog post, DICE and EA Games shared details on a new gameplay mode entitled "Drop Zone." Gamers familiar with "king of the hill" modes in other games will recognize the idea, but Battlefront is throwing in a new twist for this team battle. Find out more on this news below!

According to EA's latest post on the company's development blog, "Drop Zone" pits two teams of eight players against each other, fighting to control five special pods that drop from space onto the planet's service. The team that can control these pods simultaneously within ten minutes will be victorious! If there is a stalemate, an additional pod will be released for a team to take the advantage (via IGN).
Don't group up though, because an orbital strike is eminent!
"This goes hand in hand with our design philosophy behind many of the game modes in Star Wars Battlefront," Dennis Brännvall, lead Star Wars Battlefront level designer, explained. "We're promoting the idea of a fast, action-packed game where you need to be mobile and think on your feet. Camping doesn't really pay off."
We also learned that the pods will open over time to reveal Power Pickups, but like any loot drop in competitive gameplay, you don't want to sit around too long. Sitting ducks, even in a Galaxy far, far away, don't fare well.
As of now, we don't have any gameplay footage of "Drop Zone" to share with you, but we're sure that the upcoming Beta and more promotions leading up to the release of Battlefront will keep you hyped up!
