We're not here to convince you to see this movie because we're getting anything from Universal Pictures or Shyamalan himself, we just honestly believe that this is one of the biggest films of the year for a reason - well, five reasons!

Check out our five reasons to see The Visit in theaters!

The Concept!

One of the creepiest tales from folklore and the Brothers Grimm has to be Hansel and Gretel.  Two youths traverse a wood only to happen upon a mysterious home, in which dwells a woman that is offering candy to travelers. Of course, this woman is a witch and is simply trying to lure in kids so that she can cook and eat them. Clearly a scary tale, but Shyamalan took this story and made it modern, with smartphone video features capturing a terrifying experience for two children.

The "witch" in question is the kids' own grandmother, who turns into something evil at night. Their grandfather tries to enforce a strict curfew, but curiosity gets the best of them. In fact, the trailer even includes a creepy oven scene!

Producer Jason Blum!

Blum is arguably the king of horror movies right now, with his production house (aptly named BlumHouse Productions) has created some of the most iconic modern horror flicks of the last decade. This studio is responsible for Insidious, Paranormal Activity, Ouija, Oculus, and more. Blum pretty much championed the found-footage horror franchise back into glory. When we learned Shyamalan was taking on this genre, we were skeptical, but them Blum's name eased our worries.

The grandparents!

You've seen the trailer above, so you understand just how scary the grandmother in this movie is and how eerily depressing the grandfather is. Actress Deanna Dunagan is known mostly for her acclaimed stage work, but she embodies this evil grandma so well in the film. Meanwhile, the desperation in character actor Peter McRobbie's character is what adds a whole new level of fear to the movie. Even he isn't safe from the torment!

The Kids!

Say what you will about his movies, but Shyamalan is incredible at writing for children's roles. Think about the performances from Haley Joel Osment in The Sixth Sense and Abigail Breslin and Rory Culkin in Signs. We're expecting a lot from Ed Oxenbould and Olivia DeJonge in The Visit.

The Reviews!

IGN called the movie Shyamalan's "best film in years," while sharing a positive review. The AV Club calls the film a definitive comeback for the director. The Chicago Tribune agrees. Basically, the reviews of this film state that the director is back in form with a fun new movie. Can we ask for anything more?

If you're looking for a movie to watch in theaters this weekend, The Visit is easily the best choice. It's a horror film from a filmmaker proving his worth after years of disappointment.
