Kevin Owens made his name on the independent wrestling scene, specifically Ring of Honor, but now he is a mainstay in WWE after several months on the main roster. And in a new interview with Montreal Canadiens Magazine, Owens says he owes his WWE career to Triple H.

Owens covers a wide variety of topics in the interview, but perhaps the most interesting detail is that WWE COO Triple H, real name Paul Levesque, actually broke a tie to vote to bring Owens into the company.

When asked about his relationship with Triple H, Owens opened up and revealed more than we could've imagined.

"He hired me," Owens said. "When I got my chance to be called up to the pros, the story I heard was that four or five people had a say in the decision. The vote was tied at two, and Triple H cast the deciding ballot. He gave me my chance. I appreciated that he was willing to risk signing me even though I'm not the typical WWE wrestler. Since I started working with him, we've become a lot closer. He helps me as much as he can for shows - like he does with everyone - but we both have young kids at home and we talk about a lot of other things that have nothing to do with wrestling. The fact that he's in my corner is what counts. I watched him fight when I was younger. I went to the Bell Centre to see him live. He's the one who motivated me."

Owens made his name in WWE on the developmental NXT brand, which is Triple H's brainchild. Hunter oversees the operations of the yellow brand, and Owens received a push straight to the top when he arrived in the company. He attacked Sami Zayn right after his good friend finally won the NXT Championship that had eluded him for so long at NXT Takeover: R Evolution.

Then, Owens defeated Zayn at NXT Takeover: Rival in February to capture the title and successfully defended it against Zayn again at NXT Takeover: Unstoppable in May. He eventually lost the belt to Finn Balor, who still holds it, at the July 4 special Beast in the East in Tokyo.

Owens also boasts impressive wins over John Cena and Cesaro since his transition to the main roster of WWE.
