Reports have surfaced of a shooting at Delta State University, in which a professor was killed in his office by an active shooter. Following his death, the campus has been put on lockdown.
The shooting occurred Monday, Sept. 14, at the Mississippi campus. The professor's name has just been released; the victim was Delta State University history professor Ethan Schmidt.
The county coroner's office assures the press that the campus was put on immediate lockdown. They've also released the information that while the shooter is reportedly on the loose, he is no longer suspected to be on campus, according to The Huffington Post.

Since the shooting, the lockdown has put the entire faculty as well as the students under shelter wherever they were at the time of the incident. Furthermore, they were told to keep away from the windows in the classrooms and offices in which they are currently staying put.
Delta State has been keeping followers up-to-date via Twitter.
