Dark Souls III has a release date set for April 2016, but those interested can get their hands on some early gameplay in October of 2015 thanks to a "Network Stress Test" from developer From Software and publisher Bandai Namco. According to Polygon and Venture Beat, this "stress test" is exactly what you think it is: a way to work out any bugs before another Beta and then the actual release. This might mean avoiding a release date delay or worse outcomes resulting from bad gameplay. Dark Souls III testers can sign up now, and will be notified in Oct. about whether or not they can download this demo version of the game.

"The Dark Souls III Network Stress Test is being conducted with the following main goals in mind," the signup page for the Beta details. "The test involves evaluating the load on game servers, checking the game system and balance, and eliminating any remaining bugs. As a result, unlike a typical game demo, please note that the game you'll be playing is still a work in progress. Don't be surprised if you run into bugs and other issues as you play."
