Season 6 of The Walking Dead premieres in about two weeks, which means we can get ready for some more zombie killing and shocking moments. In a new interview, star Andrew Lincoln previews what's in store for his character, Rick Grimes.
You might have thought we saw the peak of brutality and ruthlessness with Rick last season, but apparently his attitude will remain largely unchanged when we come back for Season 6. If you recall at the end of Season 5, Rick had killed Pete, the abusive husband of Jessie, in full view of everyone in Alexandria. At that moment, Rick's old friend Morgan (Lennie James) showed up, and we ended the season with the pacifist Morgan and the aggressive Rick locking eyes.
Many fans expect Morgan to soften Rick as Season 6 progresses. But Lincoln spoke to Entertainment Weekly and revealed that Rick continues to act with purpose.
"We got a lot of people in this show now, and we’ve always had a lot of people, but we’ve got some great new additions to the cast that have been terrific, and also what you see is that there are more people in the community that you haven’t met yet that come forward in this season," he said. "And it is about our responsibility to educate these people, and whether or not Rick is as committed to them at this point in the journey. We’ll find out if he softens a little bit. He’s not taking any s— from anybody. But not in a kind of I-want-to-take-the-place way, just in a very kind of I-know-what-needs-to-be-done, and let’s f—ing get it done."
Lincoln also joked during the interview that Rick's first date with Jessie (Alexandra Breckenridge) would be rather awkward, but they might as well get together because there aren't too many choices in the apocalypse!
