After a disappointing Merseyside derby game resulting in a tie with Everton FC, Liverpool FC manager Brendan Rodgers has finally been sacked by the team. The coach took over the position in June of 2012 and took the team to second place in the Barclays Premier League in his second season as manager. That was about it, though, and disappointment has followed. After Rodgers' firing, names like Jurgen Klopp, Carlo Ancelotti, Frank de Boer are in headlines as his replacement. For now, let's take a look at how Twitter and others around the world have reacted to the football news.

The official announcement came right after the tie this weekend, directly from the Liverpool organization.
"We would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Brendan Rodgers for the significant contribution he has made to the club and express our gratitude for his hard work and commitment," a joint Fenway Sports Group statement read. "All of us have experienced some wonderful moments with Brendan as manager and we are confident he will enjoy a long career in the game."

Perhaps one of the most talked about reactions comes from retired footballer Thierry Henry, who learned of the news while taking part in a broadcast with fellow icon Jamie Carragher. Learning the news of Rodger's sacking definitely shocked the world of football, but Henry encapsulated the emotion with a tender touch on his fellow player's leg.
