‘The Voice’ Season 9 Battle Round: Team Blake Gets Help From Brad Paisley

Monday night's episode of NBC's The Voice Season 9 ended with an epic showdown for Team Blake with contestants Barrett Baber and Dustin Christensen facing-off. The first episode of this season's battle rounds welcomed A-lister guest stars Selena Gomez, Missy Elliott, Brad Paisley and John Fogerty to help judges and their singers prepare for their anticipated performances.

In an incredible duet, Team Blake singers slayed with their interpretation of the song, "Walking in Memphis." Judges Gwen Stefani, Pharrell Williams, Adam Levine and team coach Blake Shelton praised the singers' performance.

"You're both so rad," said Williams. Stefani added, "That was an incredible performance, for both of you."

When facing the task of choosing a winner, Shelton admitted that pitting the two singers against each other was a mistake that he'd have to deal with. Levine expressed his eagerness to see the two talented singers against one another, knowing that whoever lost would be up for grabs. In the end, Shelton chose Baber as the winner and Christensen was stolen by Team Adam. 

Missy Elliot's stellar cameo on the show sparked fans' excitement to see her as a possible permanent fixture as a judge on an upcoming season of The Voice. Partnered with Pharrell, Elliot offered sage advice during rehearsals and gave an emotional response to singers Celeste Betton and Mark Hood's performace. Pharrell, who was thrilled to have Elliot on his team stated, "There's only one Missy Elliot." Her passionate words of wisdom proved that she could be an incredible mentoring force on the show, should they have her again.

Team Pharrell brought the audience to its feet with an impeccable performance of the '60s classic "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell. In the end, crooner Hood won the battle against songstress Betton who was let go from the show.

The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
