In a last minute change, CBS will move its 2 Broke Girls Season 5 premiere to Nov. 12, pushing back Jane Lynch's new sitcom Angel From Hell to midseason. The new comedy about a possible guardian angel will be bumped on the fall schedule by Season 5 of 2 Broke Girls in the 9:30 p.m. timeslot. The long running show, which recently went into syndication, was originally scheduled for a midseason debut.
The storyline of Two Broke Girls Season 5 has been kept tightly hushed in advance of its fall premiere. In the upcoming season, lead stars Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs will celebrate the 100th episode and according to reports may become more successful in their ventures than fans have witnessed in past seasons.
The move may be the consequence of poor ratings for CBS' latest new sitcom Life In Pieces. The single-camera comedy focused on the adventures of an unconventional family has been airing in the 8 p.m. hour following Big Bang Theory and has not been able to keep viewers tuned in.
Premiering Angel From Hell in February will give CBS the opportunity to put all of its efforts toward Life In Pieces as it finishes out the season. It will also allow the network to add additional promotion for Lynch's new comedy, which could include a Super Bowl spot during its broadcast on Feb. 7.
Angel From Hell, created by Tad Quill focuses on a larger-than-life woman named Amy (Jane Lynch) who claims to be a guardian angel for her new friend Allison (Maggie Lawson), who isn't sure if Lynch's telling the truth or is just an insane woman.
The rest of CBS's Tuesday night laugh-a-thon will remain the same this season. Big Bang Theory will still own its 8 p.m. slot, followed by Life In Pieces at 8:30 p.m., Mom at 9 p.m. and Elementary will anchor at 10 p.m.
