America's favorite New York City teen turned web-crawling superhero, Spider-Man, will make his debut as a Disneyland resort character. His appearance will be part of the Super Hero HQ attraction opening at Tomorrowland on November 16. Marvel announced Wednesday that park visitors will get to meet the autograph-signing Spidey as part of the Marvel comic's first theme park venture outside of Orlando.

In the same online post that Disneyland shared about Spider-Man joining its list of characters, Disneyland said Captain America "is leading the Avengers on a new mission and won't be available at Disneyland this fall, but we do expect him to return in the future."
The Super Hero HQ is part of a Disneyland overhaul at the Innoventions hall. The building was once the home of the Innoventions exhibit opened in 1967 and then became the Carousel of Progress, which was a futuristic themed attraction until 1973. It later reopened in Orlando's Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World in 1976.
Over the past few years, the Innoventions hall has been used as a meet-and-greet area for superheroes. The attraction closed in March following Disneyland's announcement to open Super Hero HQ including characters that Walt Disney Co. obtained as part of a $4-billion deal with Marvel Entertainment Inc.
Another Disneyland addition, and possible distraction from other attractions being cut, are Star Wars characters Chewbacca and Darth Vader. Visitors will see them at the brand new Star Wars Launch Bay where fans can be completely immersed in the sci-fi worlds, including the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Space Mountain will also get a new Star Wars theme, turning it into a battle on an X-wing.
The Walt Disney Co. acquired the Star Wars characters in a $4-billion deal when it bought LucasFilm Ltd. Disneyland has already announced plans for the expansion Star Wars Land and is expected to begin construction in January.
With so many new additions coming to Disneyland, the amusement park is sure to attract more park guests this holiday season.
