'Empire' Season 2 Episode 5 Recap: Jussie Smollett/Jamal & Bryshere Gray/Hakeem's "Be True!"

Fox continues with the musical Season 2 soap opera of Empire. In Episode 5, the music industry will never be the same as Jamal Lyon (Jussie Smollett) and Hakeem Lyon (Bryshere Y. Gray) suddenly learn what it means to Be True?

Luscious Lyon and the rest of Empire crew are celebrating that his charges have been dropped.  Andre Lyon (Trai Byers) returns back to work as Tiana Brown (Serayah McNeill) is in the middle of her photo shoot. Hakeem introduces Tiana to his new singer while  Luscious sends out a video to his enemies, "Kiss my a$."

Luscious introduces Andre to rest of his Empire crew and joins the party. Unfortunately, Andre isn't too happy with the strippers grinding on him. After Jamal lays down a new track, Ne-Yo tries to give him words of advice. It turns out Ne-Yo is thinking of collaborating with Jamal and joining the tour. Ne-Yo and Luscious disagree about relationships on the road. 

As President, Andre is worried about reviving Gutter-Life Records. All of a sudden, Tiana is mugged by two female thieves, who run off with her bag. Tiana is then sent a video from the robbers, who want to extort her. Jamal listens to his artist, who doesn't think relationships are important.

While Jamal almost gets caught cheating, Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) meets with Laz Delgado (Adam Rodriguez) to promote Tiana's concert. Delgado warns Cookie that the wolves are coming after her. Rhonda (Kaitlin Doubleday) isn't too thrilled about Andre confessing his sins. 

Becoming suspicious of Luscious, Cookie doesn't believe Vernon committed suicide. Cookie actually thinks Luscious is responsible for Tiana's mugging. Andre isn't too happy being in the same room with Luscious' lawyer, Thirsty. Before he leaves, Thirsty reminds Andre that they were both digging up Vernon's body.

Ne-Yo attempts to get Jamal to focus on his music and relationship. Hakeem tries to hit on his new singer but she rejects him. Jamal actually catches his boyfriend cheating and kicks out his artist. While talking to Laz, Cookie takes out her gun and stops Luscious' henchmen. 

Andre meets with Jamal and Hakeem, confessing he is the reason they split. He invites them both to attend his baptism. Luscious just wants his commandments to be followed and wants Andre to put his faith aside. Wanting redemption, Andre tells Luscious how he almost killed himself. Luscious doesn't believe in God; his son just needs to man up. 

Hakeem then meets his new singer and asks for her forgiveness. While Luscious teaches his protege, Cookie is with Andre at the church. Cookie understands that they did horrible things, but God knows their heart. Jamal arrives at the church and sits next to Hakeem. 

Though he's late, Luscious enters the church, speaks with the pastor, and hugs his son. Cookie reminds Luscious the lengths he will go to control his family. As Andre is baptized, Luscious reminds when his mother almost drowned him in the tub. 

Luscious and Andre face other before he leaves the church. Hakeem is suddenly kidnapped by a gang.
