Rihanna's Ex Publicist Jonathan Hay Comes Clean About Jay Z Dating Rumors

Rihanna's ex-publicist, Jonathan Hay, has finally come clean about lighting the spark to rumors falsely claiming that Jay Z and the then 17-year old protege from Barbados were dating while he was in a relationship with super star, Beyonce. The power couple was said to have split for a year after the rumors took off.

Why did Hays confess? He is said to have confessed because of the upcoming tell-all book entitled Becoming Beyoncé: The Untold Story by celebrity biographer J. Randy Taraborrelli. It is said to reveal who the stunt man was.

OK Magazine reports that the cheating scandal was a simple PR stunt during Rihanna's earlier days as the least known artist on Def Jams' line up and says Bey was still suspicious of the pair once she and Jay Z reconciled. The embarrassed publicist says, "The PR stunt that I did was out of desperation to help break "Pon de Replay," he wrote in a statement to New York Daily News.

"It was reckless and I didn't think it was going to work. I was just throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks." He added, "I was blindsided by the news of Becoming Beyoncé coming out, and it couldn't come at a worse time for me."

Hay explained in his statement that he is releasing music on his own label via Jay Z's Tidal music platform. He also said in the statement that he has apologized to both Bey and Jay.

The untrustworthy publicist boldy wrote, "I didn't think it would be this big story."

Perhaps now he knows the damage that he's done to Jay Z's reputation, who was at the time Rihanna's employer. What's even more astonishing is the fact that Hay is still in bed with the music mogul with a production deal at Tidal.
