While the New York Mets were tied 1-1 in the fourth inning to the Kansas City Royals during Game 1 of the World Series, Fox Sports was facing technical difficulties as they lost power.
The game was basically paused for more than five minutes, as many baseball fans were left confused and distraught.
"We apologize for technical difficulties with our #WorldSeries Broadcast," Fox Sports tweeted. "We are working on fixing the issue ASAP."

The outage lasted from 9:19pm to 9:26 pm, ET. When it occurred, Royals' hitter Kendrys Morales struck out looking against Mets starter Matt Harvey, as reported by USA Today.
Due to the outage, Fox had to use the MLB Network's announcing team during the technical difficulties. Also, during the power failure, MLB Chief Baseball Officer, Joe Torre consulted with the umpiring crew and the game was halted. The game returned at 9:26pm ET, when Fox switched to the international feed, according to NY Post.
Apparently the outage occurred in the bottom of the fourth inning, as the broadcast truck in Kansas City lost power. However, there was also a second brief outage shortly after Fox returned in the bottom of the fifth inning. This led to both managers, Royals' Ned Yost and Mets' Terry Collins agreeing to continue the game without instant replay, as reported by Yahoo Sports.
Fox apologized for both outages and released a statement, as reported by CBS Sports:
"Before the start of the bottom of the fourth inning of tonight's World Series Game 1, a rare electronics failure caused both the primary and backup generators inside the FOX Sports production compound to lose power. The issue was immediately addressed, although it resulted in the audience missing one at-bat during the time needed to switch to carriage of Major League Baseball's international feed, powered by a different generator on site. The on-field delay was due to replay capability being lost in both team's clubhouses. We apologize for the interruption in tonight's coverage and are working to ensure that the remainder of the World Series is broadcast without incident."
Hopefully that won't be happening again.
