'Gotham' Season 2 Ep 7 Spoilers: Twitter Reacts Robin Lord Taylor/Carol Kane Penguin Twist!

Season 2 of the Batman prequel series, Gotham, continues on Fox. In last night's Episode 7, Twitter had lots to say about the shocking twist between gangster Oswald Cobbleput aka The Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) and his mother, Gertrud Kapelput (Carol Kane).

In our previous recap, Selina Kyle (Camren Bicondova) tried to save her best friend but Bridget Pike (Michelle Veintimilla) ended up taking a darker path. During her shootout with the police, Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) was unable to save Bridget as her gas tank sprung a leak, causing a massive explosion. Edward (Cory Michael Smith) ended up confessing to Kringle that he killer her abusive ex. Edward strangled Kringle with his bare hands as she threatened to turn to the cops. While Edward held Kringle's corpse in his arms, Bridget was taken to an underground lab beneath Wayne Enterprises.

In our recent recap, Penguin had finally discovered the whereabouts of his mother. After being betrayed by Butch (Drew Powell), Theo Galavan (James Frain) drove the knife behind Gertrude, killing her. After managing to escape, Penguin returned and unleashed his henchmen on Theo's mansion during election night. During their standoff, Penguin swore to Jim that he will get revenge against Theo for his mother's death.

In an an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Taylor reveals how the loss of his mother affects Penguin, "His mother was his tether to humanity, and she offered the only love he really experienced in his life. To lose that is absolutely devastating, but in a way it's freeing. He feels tremendous guilt about his role in her death, and it'll be interesting to see what happens if he can ever come to terms with that. In a way, his shred of humanity has been ripped away from him. It's a huge transition for him."
