'Gotham' Season 2 Ep 8 Spoilers: Twitter Reacts Cory Michael Smith/Robin Lord Taylor Twist!

Season 2 of the Batman prequel series, Gotham, continues on Fox. In last night's Episode 8, Twitter had lots to say about the shocking twist between gangster Oswald Cobbleput aka The Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) and Edward Nygma (Cory Michael Smith).

In our previous recap, Penguin had finally discovered the whereabouts of his mother. After being betrayed by Butch (Drew Powell), Theo Galavan (James Frain) drove the knife behind Gertrude, killing her. After managing to escape, Penguin returned and unleashed his henchmen on Theo's mansion during election night. During their standoff, Penguin swore to Jim (Ben McKenzie) that he will get revenge against Theo for his mother's death.

In our recent recap, Theo promised to Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) he would tell him the name of his parent's killer, but only if he signed off Wayne Enterprises to him. In order to find the missing Mayor, Jim Gordon had to pay the mind games of his psycho ex, Barbara Kean (Erin Richards). The intense standoff between Barbara and Jim led to her falling off the rooftop of a church. While trying to dispose of Ms. Kringle's dead body, Nygma had a surprising confrontation with a wounded Penguin (Taylor).

In an interview with TV Line, Smith teases, "[Laughs] Yeah.... Penguin is not in good health, and the ever-caring Ed finds him at an opportune time. Ed's going to save his life, and where they run into each other is outside the city limits."
