Ase Marie Nordhagen is a 90-year-old Norwegian great-grandmother. However, you wouldn't know it by looking at her--or watching her daily routine. Nordhagen performs "keepy uppy" (typically called "juggling," in American soccer lingo) for hours on end every day--to the point that she can perform well over 50 on any given try. Although, she stated that her record was in the 1,000's.
Originally displaying her skills for Norwegian newspaper, Ryfylke, Nordhagen is sharply dressed in black pants and black shoes (her shirt suggests something of a floral pattern). She expertly steadies herself with one hand on a nearby wall, and one hand out from her side, before bouncing the ball with tight control off her right foot. Up. Down. Up. Down. Up. Down (you get the idea). It appears anywhere in the house is fair game, too.
"I can not go past the ball in the hallway without taking it up and performing a few tricks," said Nordhagen, via Norwegian newspaper, Dagbladet, adding later that it brings her back to her childhood.
The impressive display of skill from Nordhagen spurs an interesting thought. If you are a golf buff, you have probably heard of the phrase, "shoot your age." What this means is that however old you are, that is the score you shoot--or better (if you're a 77-year-old you shoot a 77, or lower; if you're an 18-year-old you make a hole in one on every hole and are commonly known as a liar). It's recognized as an impressive feat. So maybe the soccer equivalent could be juggling your age? Except instead of aiming for a number less than your age you aim for a number higher. See? It could be a thing!
OK, maybe it won't be a thing. But one thing is for sure: Nordhagen is an inspiration (I hear Barcelona might be on her radar. Watch out Messi!), and this video is 100% guaranteed to make you smile.
