Erykah Badu Throws Shade at Iggy Azalea on The Soul Train Awards

Erykah Badu is not only a legend in the music game, but also a legend when it comes to throwing shade. The 44-year-old hosted the 2015 Soul Train Awards and when the topic of rappers that can't rap arised, Badu threw Iggy Azalea all the way under the bus.

"As you know, I am the queen of neo soul and people say I have this common effect on rappers: that I make them change gods and wear crochet hats, shoulder pads," Badu, 44, said. "So they have banned me from all of the hip-hop awards with a sign saying 'Erykah Badu, leave our rappers alone.'"

Badu continued her joke saying that rappers were not welcome at the Soul Train Awards because of her reputation, but only with Iggy as the exception, then pretended to take a call:

"Who is this? Iggy Azalea? Yeah, hey! No, no, no, no, no, no, no! You can come," Badu yelled into her phone. "Because what you're doing is definitely not rap."

 This is not the first time Azalea has been called out for not being a "rapper." "Apparently" rapper J.Cole called out Azalea on the song "Fire Squad" for only being mainstream accepted as a rapper because she's white. He shrugged off the comment in the song, saying he was just playing, but we all know all jokes have some truth in it.

One of the most famous moments of shade thrown Azalea's way was none other than Nicki Minaj. At the 2014 BET Awards, Minaj won the award of Best Female Hip-Hop Artist for the fifth consecutive time. Iggy Azalea just so happened to be nominated in the same category and Minaj didn't waste anytime throwing shade.

"What I want the world to know about Nicki Minaj is, that when you hear Nicki Minaj spit, Nicki Minaj wrote it."

The dig was aimed at Azalea who employed ghostwriters such as T.I. instead of writing her own rhymes.

One thing we can say is that Badu is known for not holding her tongue.
