Luck is not on the side of rapper Bobby Shmurda since apparently while in prison on Rikers Island awaiting trial, the rapper received a visit from girlfriend Kimberly Rousseau when he was caught with a "sharpened metal object." The recording artist could face another seven years in prison, even though he hasn't been convicted of previous charges. To make matters worse, he has been denied bail again for drug and weapons charges from a judge in a New York City Court. This was his sixth attempt!
The Brooklyn artist, who's real name is Ackquille Jean Pollard and members of the group GS9, have been incarcerated for almost one year for allegedly 69 charges including, conspiring to commit second degree murder and possession of a weapon. Reportedly, his family was prepared to put up "collateral property" to satisfy a $2 million bail but, his attorneys were unable to convince the court, says Vibe.
During a recent phone interview with Hot 97's Ebro in The Morning, Shmurda denied that he has been in any danger at the jail and said, "I'm always gonna be good. I heard a bunch of rumors about stuff happening to me, ain't nobody laid a finger on me yet. I get love from everywhere. Of course, I got my haters, but what they say? 'You ain't got no haters, you ain't poppin'. You know how that s*it go."
The 21-year old sent a message to his young fans and says, "This shit ain't sweet. To all the kids out there, my music is not for nobody to go reenact or something. It's something that I been through, it's something that is where I come from."
"A lot of people don't come from where I come from, a lot do. But the people that do come from where I come from, it don't make it right for the things I talk about, to go outside and do it. It's okay to be in the club and reenact when we dancing and having fun. That's about it, don't take it farther than the club. These people not playing with us right now. Young black men, young kids period. They not playing with nothing right now. They trying to take eight years out my life right now."
Record label executive, L.A. Reid confirmed that the label would not bail Bobby Shmurda out of prison and that as a publicaly held corporation, they're in the business of making music. He revealed in part, "We seriously don't make the money we used to make. That's a fact of life, right? Bobby Shmurda is not the same as Snoop Dogg and Murder Was The Case, who's coming off The Chronic and his first album. It's a different era, you know? And, we're a publicly held corporation. We just aren't in the same position we were in back in those days. So, it's a different day."
