Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton's vice chair, Huma Abedin has spoken out against Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's rhetoric to propose "a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country's representatives can figure out what is going on." Trump added, "there is great hatred towards Americans by large segments of the Muslim population."
Abedin sent an email to Clinton supporters saying, "I'm a proud Muslim - but you don't have to share my faith to share my disgust. Trump wants to literally write racism into our law books," reports People.
Obviously, Clinton and the casino magnet have different views on how to combat terrorism and ISIS. The former Secretary of State says that fight against ISIS "cannot be an American fight." The GOP front runner made his stance clear in a statement, provided by his campaign manager which states, "Great surveillance and vigilance must be adhered to." And added, "We want to be very fair but too many bad things are happening and the percentage of true hatred is too great. People that are looking to distroy our country must be reported and turned in by the good people who love our country and want America to be great again."
CNN News published a report about an interview with Fox News this past Monday, where the controversial candidate cleared up any speculation about whom he was referring to, when discussing Muslims. He told commentator Greta Van Susteren, that his proposal does not apply to Muslims already in the U.S., "I have Muslim friends, Greta, and they're wonderful people."
The vice chairwoman doesn't agree. She said, "His Islamophobia doesn't reflect our nation's values - it goes far enough to damage out country's reputation and could even threaten our national security."
The political race for the White House heats up. Do you think Donald Trump's concern is valid or do you think that Huma Abedin raised a valid point about the republican? Tell us what you think!
