The 2016 Golden Globes nomination list were unveiled early Thursday morning. And while they were delivered from Superstore star America Ferrera, it seems as if the Golden Globes Twitter account thought it was Jane the Virgin star Gina Rodriguez.
You know, because they're both Latina ... and on TV ... and people don't do their research.
While the mistake was an honest one at that from the Globes, it was unfortunately noticed by what is undoubtedly one of the harshest, most unapologetic places on the Internet: Twitter.
Yes, Twitter immediately noticed the error, in which the Globes put in @HereIsGina, Rodriguez's Twitter handle, in their tweet, saying that she was "kicking off" the nominations list.
Which of course, as we can all see, she wasn't.
Once the Hollywood Foreign Press Association noticed the mistake, they immediately deleted the tweet. But don't worry, Twitter snapped it up before they were able to erase it for good:

Mislabeling an actress once? Awkward. Twice? Inexcusable. (That's America Ferrera, not Gina Rodriguez) pic.twitter.com/49ncWUatqt — Jamie Lewis (@jlew8) December 10, 2015
Oddly enough, Rodriguez did win the Golden Globe earlier this year for her performance on Jane the Virgin. In her speech, she announced the importance of the award, saying that it "represents a culture that wants to see themselves as heroes."
Unfortunately, it appears as if someone at the HFPA is cool with seeing them as everyone else in that culture.
We're guessing upcoming host Ricky Gervais will have no issue etching out a joke from this mishap. Let's see if it makes the cut or if the Hollywood Foreign Press Association steps on it beforehand.
