There is no doubt that Darth Vader has done a lot of evil things in the Star Wars saga, from when he was just a boy named Anakin Skywalker from the desert planet of Tatooine in the prequels to the time he was creating the Death Star in the original trilogy. However, The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams has just revealed the Sith Lord's most disturbing moment to EW.

"The most jaw-dropping-est thing to me, in retrospect, is that moment in Episode IV when Leia is being held and Vader goes in to torture her for information," Abrams admitted, adding that the horror doesn't actually sink in until The Empire Strikes Back.

"When you think of it later, it's like, 'Oh my God, that's his daughter.' He's going to torture his own daughter," he said. "At the time, it's just scary. Then it gets just really creepy when you think about it. Oh my god, that's the worst. It's horrible."

There is no doubt that the torture of the young princess was disturbing to viewers as well, however Vader had several other shocking moments in the Star Wars franchise.

Padme Amidala

The feisty senator of the Republic started a bond with the much younger Anakin Skywalker, something that had to be kept hidden. In Revenge of The Sith, the future mother of Darth Vader's children had discovered that her husband had joined the Dark Side and Anakin assumes it was his Master Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) who had turned her against him. In his anger, he Force-chokes the very pregnant Padme until Obi-Wan stops him.

Sadly, the former Queen of Naboo dies of a broken heart right after giving birth to twins Luke and Leia, the death that Anakin had seen in his dreams and tried to prevent.

Mace Windu

What would you do to save your wife from death? You probably wouldn't consider chopping off Samuel L. Jackson's hand, but that's exactly what Anakin does in Revenge of the Sith. Emperor Palpatine has been discovered to be Darth Sidius, who has been trying to get Anakin into the Dark Side with the promise of saving Padme. When Mace confronts Palpatine and is about to kill the Sith Lord, Anakin stops him by cutting off the Jedi Master's lightsaber-wielding arm. This allowed Palpatine to strike the fatal blow and finally win Anakin over.

The Slaughter of the Younglings

The freshly-minted Sith was sent off to a mission in the Jedi Temple, a place where everyone is supposed to stay safe. Anakin's first act as a Sith Lord proved to be the darkest moment in the prequel, as he enters a room where children have been hiding and kills off every single one of them. Although the slaughter of the younglings happens off-screen, there was not a dry eye when Yoda and Obi-Wan discovered the children in a different scene.

Luke Skywalker

Darth Vader had a two-part shocker in The Empire Strikes Back in his lightsaber duel with the young Jedi who wanted to avenge the death of Obi-Wan. Vader's finishing move on Luke was almost identical to the one he did on Mace Windu, successfully slicing off the boy's hand as it held a lightsaber. But then it leads to the most jaw-dropping scene in the Star Wars saga.

"I Am Your Father"

Darth Vader's most shocking moment also happens to be the one of the frequently misquotes lines in cinema (he had responded, "No, I am your father" when Luke accused him of killing Anakin instead of saying "Luke, I am your father"). The revelation is made even more maddening by the thought that he would torture his own daughter and had just maimed his son. Abrams thinks highly of this particular moment.

"That's a 20," he said of the infamous scene. "That's the best."

Bonus: Kylo Ren

Although he will not appear in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Darth Vader is still very much a part of Episode VII with the help of new villain, Kylo Ren. In the trailers, the mysterious religious fanatic has recently been revealed to be in possession of Vader's ruined mask, to which Adam Driver's character vows, "I shall finish what you started."

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is currently showing in theaters worldwide.
