Fans gathered at famed Austin music venue Stubbs' for NPR's showcase of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs got an extra-special treat last night. At a festival that's all about finding the newest and best music, these fans opted for an old standby in the YYY's. But Karen O wanted them to know that just because they were missing out on the NEXT BIG THING, didn't mean they weren't going to see anything new.

I guess what I'm getting at here is the YYY's debuted a new song, the titular track off their upcoming album Mosquito, and it's pretty decent. Listen to it below:

"Mosquito (Suck Your Blood)" has a bit of that old-school (early '00s anyway) Yeah Yeah Yeahs art-rock sound. The guitars buzz, Karen screeches, the olds wince and the fans delight. The track, though loud and a bit discordant, is still pretty danceable, which shows that O and Co. learned their lesson from the success of shiny dance-pop hits like "Zero."

The verses sound like they took about five seconds to write. Every line is an iteration on a "Mosquito (VERBS)" template. But all blandness is forgiven when the driving chorus busts in and Karen begins screaming "SUCK YOUR BLOOD!" at the top of her (probably) sexy lungs.

Taking the awesomely unexpected gospel stomp of "Sacrilege" and this current track into account, Mosquito is shaping up to be quite the album. Mosquito drops April 15.
What do you think? Is the new track any good? Will you be picking up Mosquito when it hits stores? Do you wish you had a boa as awesome as Karen’s?
