Showtime has released a new teaser for the Season 3 revival of the cult favorite Twin Peaks. Back in the hands of master filmmaker David Lynch, Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) and Deputy Hawk (Michael Horse) return to investigate their mysterious small town.
As we previously mentioned, Twin Peaks followed FBI Agent Dale Cooper as he investigated the mysterious death of Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee). Unfortunately, the case ended with Dale Cooper being possessed by the evil spirit, Bob, and his soul lost in the Black Lodge. The Mulholland Drive filmmaker will be directing every episode of the modern remake.
According to MTV, the teaser features new footage of the familiar, such as the old iconic Twin Peaks town sign, which is stuck at the same population number. The original score from composer Angelo Badalamenti (Blue Velvet) also happens to be in the footage.
As transcribed by TV Line, Horse describes filming in the Pacific Northwest, "Location sometimes becomes a character. There are a lot of holy places up here... sacred places. It touches something in the psyche. It's almost like being in a moving painting."
What we're still not sure of is the plot for the show. Is Dale Cooper investigating the unsolved murder of Laura Palmer? Or is this an entire new case that brings back Cooper to Twin Peaks? We can only speculate as we catch a glimpse of a white-haired man acting a little cray cray.
We also mentioned, Miguel Ferrer will reprise his role as FBI Agent Albert Rosenfield. Sheryl Lee, who played victim Laura Palmer, is also back. David Patrick Kelly reprises his role as Jerry Horne. New cast member additions include Jennifer Jason Leigh, Robert Knepper, Balthazar Getty and Amanda Seyfried.
Showtime will premiere the revival of Twin Peaks sometime in 2017.
