It's been nearly a decade since the last Guns N' Roses studio album, Chinese Democracy, and while they've toured since, the band that turned Axl Rose and Slash into megastars has changed; however, new clues point to a 2016 reunion and major comeback to form with the original lineup – and perhaps even a movie!
While the band has kept mum about the possibility of a return, NME reports that there have been a couple of clues of their return: their official website and Facebook pages just went through major makeovers, now featuring the original logo, prompting fans to hope for a return to form.
According to Ultimate Classic Rock, there has been one other big clue regarding the band's possible comeback. In the new Disney release, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, there's a new teaser of the band that certainly has fans excited over a possible film.
The teaser shows a large group of fans in concert singing to the band's classic song "Welcome to the Jungle," one of their all-time biggest hits, in what could easily be the teaser for something cooking in the film department, and with all the secrecy at this point, it might even be possible to see Rose and Slash working through their problems in a piece like Metallica's Some Kind of Monster documentary.
In the past few years, Guns N' Roses has gotten into trouble with fans time and again, as their live performances have turned increasingly uncomfortable. Often, the band won't even reach the stage until hours after they were scheduled, whatever the venue might be.
For now, it's unclear what exactly do the recent online makeover and teaser mean, whether it's an upcoming new album, a world tour or the possibility about them coming back in film form, but either way, the possibility of their return to the mainstream has received some mixed reviews even ahead of anything happening.
Rumors of a Guns N' Roses reunion first began last September, after it came out that Rose and Slash have finally worked through their differences after years of feuding.
It's been over 20 years since the band's original lineup (also including Izzy Stradlin, Duff McKagan and Steven Adler) last performed together, in a 1993 concert in Argentina.
Could we be seeing a Guns N' Roses film in 2016? Let's hope to hear an announcement soon!
