Legendary piano player and singer Elton John had to cancel his Birmingham, Alabama, concert last night "due to medical reasons." The British performer was supposed to perform his hits at the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex Arena but just hours before the star of the show Ticketmaster announced the cancellation in its website. A Facebook photo of the Arena shows that the "Rocket Man" singer's piano had already been set up for the performance, showing that the cancellation was definitely last-minute and not expected.

Spokespeople from the Birmingham arena as well as Elton John's camp have each cited "medical reasons" for the late cancellation but have little or no details as to the illness or what ever it might be. Ticketmaster has offered refunds for bummed concertgoers who have to miss out on the experience now.

This comes on the heels of two other huge concert cancellations: Justin Bieber and Rihanna. Maybe something is in the air for performers these days? Hopefully this does not become a new fad for pop stars and fans can be able to see their favorite stars in concert.

In all seriousness, we hope the piano legend recovers soon. Elton John is set to perform tonight in Memphis, Tennessee. Hopefully he is well enough to come on stage.
