For Lena Dunham, the new year doesn't necessarily mean "a new you." The Girls star embraced 2016 with the same body-positive efforts she's always had. Except this time around, she's doing it with a bikini selfie.

On Sunday, the Tiny Furniture director posted an Instagram pic, which featured Dunham in a black bikini seemingly lounging with some striped towels. The caption reads, "Not her natural habitat but she's trying her darndest!!!"

According to PEOPLE, the 29-year-old writer, director and actress has long been promoting body acceptance and adopting a healthier lifestyle, as evidenced by Instagram photos of herself in underwear, bikinis and even post-workout selfies!

But even with her valiant efforts, Dunham is still facing a lot of criticisms. In October, the Daily Mail even coined one of her outfits an "eyesore." Obviously, Lena couldn't take that lightly.

The outspoken Girls show runner aptly fired back with an Instagram post, saying, "What the Daily Mail calls an eyesore I call a damn dream, @marahoffman."

But even with all the haters, Lena is still fighting the good fight and keeping her motivations in check. Back in September, Dunham told ESPN, "My relationship with my body is constantly evolving. I'm going to be 30 next year. I had to learn, as you age, you have to move."

"You have to move so you don't die," she continued. "You have to move so your brain doesn't atrophy. You have to move so that you look a little bit like a person that you might want to be."
