Steely Dan singer Donald Fagen has been arrested and charged with a misdemeanor assault after allegedly pushing his wife, Libby Titus, at their Manhattan home. The classic rock band's frontman was accused of shoving his wife, knocking her to the ground after a verbal altercation.
According to the report, Fagen allegedly grabbed his wife by the arms and shoved her onto the bottom of a marble window frame in her bedroom, causing bruising and swelling.
"[Titus] and Fagen were involved in a verbal dispute, at which point he grabbed her by the arm and pushed her," the spokesperson told Rolling Stone. "She fell, bruising her arm."
It was unclear whether the complainant received medical attention, a police spokesman said.
The 67-year-old was charged with one count each of assault and harassment. He was released without bail. Additionally, Fagen was issued an order of protection to stay away from Titus.
The 68-year-old spoke to Page Six about the incident. “I don’t feel good,” Titus told The Post over the phone. “I’m very tired and I’m divorcing my husband.”
Fagen launched Steely Dan in 1972 with guitarist Walter Becker. The 1970s band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame back in 2001.
He married Titus, a producer, actor and songwriter, in 1993 after they met in the mid-sixties.
The publication reached out to Titus for a follow-up, she then revealed that she's not going to press charges anymore, noting that they are friends and that she doesn't want to elaborate any further.
