Nathan Cleverly Demands A World Boxing Title Shot

By Kenneth Brown | Nov 18, 2014 10:37 AM EST

Nathan Cleverly, Anthony Joshua, Tony Bellew, George Groves and James DeGale will all step into the Liverpool Echo Arena's boxing ring this Saturday night, Nov. 22, and they're all hoping to have world title fights in 2015, and if they have success in their bouts they might just get their wishes. But the British crowd will be split between Nathan and Tony, as the pair will face one another for the second time. Cleverly, though, despite Bellew's home advantage, is confident of winning and then becoming world champion. Cleverly explained: "I've got a dream of becoming a two-weight champion. Win this fight and that dream is alive. Both careers are on the line. We've put ourselves on a pedestal. We've talked the talk. Who can deliver now? Maybe for the loser it's time to walk away, but losing is not an option for me. I strongly dislike him. I wouldn't say I hate the guy — I don't want to waste that emotion on him. The way he talks is very disrespectful. He's got a big mouth. He's a bully boy. He's a big guy, he's got a big mouth and he tries to intimidate people. My ambition is to go to his backyard and bully the bully boy." Read More »

Is Wladimir Klitschko's Baby Making Him Take His Eye Off The Boxing Ring?

By Kenneth Brown | Nov 16, 2014 01:42 PM EST

When you step into the boxing ring for a living, it's safe to say your confidence is up there with the best of them. That would explain the reasoning behind everybody wanting a piece of Wladimir Klitschko. The world heavyweight champion beat Kubrat Pulev with a fifth-round humiliation, according to ESPN, but already the attention has moved on to his next opponent. The star is busy planning his engagement and baby's arrival with Hayden Panettiere, but it's believed he wants a sizzling summer showdown. His options are between Tyson Fury, Shannon Briggs, Anthony Joshua, David Haye or possibly another big-named opponent, but which fighter has the best chance of beating him? Fury is seen as one of the fighters with all the tools to beat Wlad, but does he really have what it takes? British boxer Joshua is friends with Wlad, and many see him as a few years away from fighting at that level. The British pair remain as options, as does Haye, who famously lost to Wlad. He has been working on his return, and he's desperate for one more shot against the heavyweight champion. Read More »

Wladimir's Baby Making Him Take His Eye Off The Ring?

By Kenneth Brown | Nov 13, 2014 03:24 PM EST

In a matter of days Wladimir Klitschko will face Kubrat Pulev, but he also has Shannon Briggs and wife-to-be Hayden Panettiere to worry about. Briggs has been borderline stalking the world champion, demanding a fight. The soon-to-be-retiring champion is engaged to Hayden, and has a baby on the way, so one would forgive him if his mind was elsewhere. He seems reluctant to walk away, making many wonder if he will have to be forced out of the boxing ring. Could a minor slip up against Pulev or Briggs be that reason? You never know, but Pulev is likely to be his toughest opponent in a long, long time. Read More »

James DeGale believes he is heading towards a world title, but that doesn't mean he's prepared to start slacking off. The world title contender has already earned himself a shot at Carl Froch, or his vacant title if he chooses to opt out of the fight, but he's not prepared to sit and wait around. Soon enough he will step in to the boxing ring to fight Marco Antonio Periban, and then he's happy to fight Froch, George Groves or whoever stands in his way from world boxing domination in 2015. Hayden & Wlad Won't Marry Yet Because She's "Fat"

By Kenneth Brown | Nov 05, 2014 04:07 PM EST

Wladimir Klitschko and Hayden Panettiere were hoping to get married soon, but the newly engaged duo will have to wait. Why, you ask? Because the bride-to-be believes she's too 'fat' with her pregnancy, and the world heavyweight champion has fights to train for, meaning it just makes sense for them to postpone it. On top of that, Hayden has turned down acting work because of her appearance, too. The 'Nashville' star hasn't held back, revealing exactly how she feels. Perhaps Wlad's prospect, Anthony Joshua, will step up to the plate, taking over from the champion, and maybe then, if Hayden's ready, the pair will tie the knot. Read More »

Carl Froch delivered a devastating knockout to George Groves at Wembley Stadium, and it's safe to say he has earned the right to do whatever he wants, and he's living by that right. The world champion boxer has laughed off the idea of a rematch with Groves and he has laughed off the idea of fighting James DeGale. Youth Boxing Assault

By Kenneth Brown | Oct 21, 2014 03:00 PM EDT

World heavyweight boxing champion Wladimir Klitschko is the ideal role model. He treats every opponent the same, with respect, and working hard before fighting them. Many boxers have used the Ukrainian as an inspiration to better themselves, but somehow the memo was lost in translation to one young boxer. Vido Loncar took on Algiras Baniulis in the European Youth Boxing Championships, which have been held in Zagreb, Croatia, but Vido lost the fight and proceeded to attack the referee, bringing shame to his nation. Will young boxers follow in the footsteps of Wladimir or will some continue to break the rules? Read More »
