On Sept. 9, 2015, a plain-clothed NYPD officer wrongfully arrested former tennis player, James Blake. The police officer was allegedly looking for the subject of a credit card fraud and physically attacked Blake, mistaking him as the subject, all of which was caught on security camera video. Now new reports are suggesting the case of this mistaken identity can be blamed on Instagram and social media. Read More »
At one point in James Blake's career he was ranked 4th in the world. He was a two-time Quarterfinalist at the US Open and won 10 career ATP Tour Titles. Yesterday the decorated tennis star and Olympian was welcomed by the unwelcoming arms of the NYPD when officers thought he was the man involved in their identity theft investigation. He was not the guy they were looking for though. In the end the five plainclothes officers tackled and handcuffed him outside his Manhattan hotel not knowing he was innocent. The witnesses who pointed Blake out to police mistook him for somebody else. Read More »
James Blake has certainly proven to have a knack for working with rappers (see: his remix of "m.A.A.d. city," his work with Chance the Rapper, his Drake remixes, etc.) and the biggest rapper on the planet has taken notice. Kanye West appears to want Blake's help in crafting a new album. Read More »
James Blake is batting a thousand with his recent string of hip-hop and R&B collaborations and remixes. His latest target is the similarly on fire Kendrick Lamar. The Brit producer tossed together a remix of Lamar's "m.A.A.d. city" and debuted it under his alias Harmonix on BBC Radio 1. Check it out below: Read More »
When Destiny's Child's "Bills" came out at the turn of the last century, you would have been laughed out of the room if you described a remix by a pale Englishman who makes moody bedroom music as "hotly anticipated." However, this is 2013 and, as James Blake's glitchy reworking of "Bills" shows us, all bets are off. Read More »
In what should be an absolute sh*tstorm of mopeyness, James Blake has remixed a song from Drake's latest album Nothing Was The Same (which was, apparently, nothing special). The dubstep-crooner laid hands on the album track "Come Thru" and the result is surprisingly upbeat and danceable. Read More »

James Blake has just added a large amount of dates to the rest of his touring schedule in support of his latest album Overgrown. I'll be honest; I've never been the biggest James Blake fan. But this performance of his song "Retrograde" on the Late Show with David Letterman is just tops. Slow songs on Letterman tend to flop, as you can just kind of feel the live audience sitting in confused silence, but Blake's haunting, echo-y vocals seemed to fill the space and kept me riveted the whole way through. During the Coachella Festival on Sunday, British dub genius and Wu Tang Clan alumnus, The RZA, performed their collaboration "Take a Fall for Me." This track off of Blake's sophomore album Overgrown is a desperate love song, which is brought together by The RZA's rap style through heart wrenching lyrics. Sunday's concert was the debut performance of the collaboration. The RZA even had to use the assistance of a lyric sheet, but that did not stop him from rapping to a "pretty girl." Read More »
