Michael Sam Distraction: Is He Not In The NFL Because He's Gay? [WATCH]

By Jaymz Clements | Dec 03, 2014 05:13 PM EST

The NFL's first openly gay player, Michael Sam, has revealed why thinks he was cut from the St. Louis Rams and Dallas Cowboys and is no longer on an NFL team ... and it has nothing to do with his talent. The defensive player, who came out before this year's NFL draft — told reporters that he still believes he has a future in football, and that the reason he's not in the league may have to do with his sexuality and about the bogus "Michael Sam distraction" rather than his talent as a footballer. When asked by TMZ why he's not currently on an NFL team, despite being drafted by the St. Louis Rams and then picked up by the Dallas Cowboys after being placed on waivers by the Rams, "I was the SEC Defensive Player of the Year last year, I don't think it had to do with talent." Even though Sam was a college star, the fact that Sam is gay caused many in football to wonder how it would affect his draft stock and his eventual acceptance into the NFL, with the "(New York) Daily News" even saying "most NFL experts blamed his size — and not the fact that he was gay" for his draft-day drop. Jameis Winston NFL Bound?

By Kenneth Brown | Dec 03, 2014 02:22 PM EST

Jameis Winston is currently undergoing a life-changing case, hoping his lawyer David Cornwell can help him remain unpunished, and then he can focus on the 2015 NFL draft. Winston is seen as one of the best QB in that class, but he's also widely considered as the most troubling NCAA star to ever look to enter the NFL. The Florida State University QB could find himself off the hook, and then he could be drafted by the Oakland Raiders, the Chicago Bears or the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Is he worth the trouble, and will the many allegations surrounding him be enough to hurt his draft stock? Read More »

Mike Ditka 'Embarrassed' For Rams Players In Michael Brown Ferguson 'Hands Up, Don't Shoot' Stance

By Jaymz Clements | Dec 03, 2014 02:22 PM EST

Former Chicago Bears coach and current ESPN TV personality Mike Ditka has taken a hardline stance against St. Louis Rams players who showed their solidarity with the family and friends of Ferguson police shooting victim Michael Brown with a "Hands Up, Don't Shoot" stance before their game against the Oakland Raiders Sunday, Nov. 30. The players — Stedman Bailey, Tavon Austin, Jared Cook, Chris Givens and Kenny Britt — all came out of the St. Louis tunnel before their Oakland game with their hands up in the "Hands Up, Don't Shoot" protest gesture. Elderly white man Ditka, however, doesn't think they should have. Saying that the Rams players should be "embarrassed" for their political stance — presumably against innocent people being shot by those charged to serve and protect them — the former NFL coach doesn't "want to hear about this hands-up crap" and adds that Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson's "life is ruined." Tom Brady Too Old For Rob Gronkowski?

By Kenneth Brown | Dec 03, 2014 01:33 PM EST

Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski are equals when stepping out onto the NFL field for the New England Patriots, but Brady has explained that his old-man attitude doesn't want to put up with several of his younger stars' off-field partying antics. Could Brady's veteran presence hold the team back when it comes down to it? Many believe he's the reason the Pats have failed to go the distance in recent years, however, they are a heavy favorite to win the Super Bowl this year. Gronk recently partied with Justin Bieber, attending an L.A. Clippers NBA game, but as expected, Brady was nowhere to be seen. Read More »

JJ Watt, Aaron Rodgers, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Richard Sherman: Who'll Be NFL MVP?

By Jaymz Clements | Dec 02, 2014 01:10 PM EST

Could Houston Texan JJ Watt become only the third defensive player to win the NFL's MVP award? That's the chatter around the NFL as the Texans lineman put up another dominant display on the weekend, scoring his fifth touchdown of the year to go with his 11.5 sacks, and prompting the Houston crowd to chant "M-V-P, M-V-P" for the defensive behemoth. The only thing that could realistically stop him? The Texans's 6-6 record which, compared to other MVP frontrunners such as Aaron Rodgers, Peyton Manning, Richard Sherman, DeMarco Murray and Tom Brady, isn't quite good enough to guarantee a winning season, let alone a playoff berth. Either way, during the Houston Texans's 45-21 smackdown of the Tennessee Titans Sunday, Nov. 30, the Texans's fans made their preference clear, chanting out the accolade for the defensive lineman. Ray Rice Gets Forgiveness, But Which Team Will Add Him To Their NFL Roster?

By Kenneth Brown | Nov 30, 2014 06:09 PM EST

Ray Rice is back and ready to re-enter the NFL, but which team will take a huge risk and add the RB, who has seen his career ruined by his domestic abuse case, to their roster? Rice was one of the biggest stars in the NFL, but when a video of his assault on his then-wife-to-be Janay Rice went viral, the Baltimore Ravens wanted nothing to do with him. But he has been given a second chance: Janay has forgiven him and continued to offer her support for her husband, and now he's hoping to resurrect his career. The question is can he rebuild his career, and what team should take a chance and sign him? Several unnamed stars have added their support, saying that he does deserve a second chance. One fellow star added "everyone deserves a second chance." Another star explained: "I know Ray and his wife. I believe they've forgiven each other. I would accept him, and I think that my teammates would accept him." The final unnamed player — who played with Rice — insisted, "He seems very remorseful. As much as I am against domestic violence, I do believe in second chances. No more chances after that, though." Read More »

Jordan Cameron, Johnny Manziel & Josh Gordon gone?

By Kenneth Brown | Nov 29, 2014 01:11 PM EST

The Cleveland Browns are enjoying one of their best NFL seasons since their 1999 return, but that doesn't mean everything is perfect, particularly in the mind of their management. Jordan Cameron, Johnny Manziel and Josh Gordon were tipped to be the stars that led the Browns to astonishing things this season, but strangely, they've done just that, astonish the NFL, but without the help of this trio. The Browns will face the Buffalo Bills this weekend, and whether they win or lose, they could well trade these three stars, but for very different reasons. Should they save money and stockpile picks, particularly if they continue to win games without much impact from these stars? Read More »
