Cartoon Network is bringing back the feminist superhero icons from your childhood, The Powerpuff Girls, in a new reboot set to debut later in 2016. The first clip from the new Townsville show been released, and on it Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup's animation is so similar to the '90s original you'll die of happiness -- and they're still not taking condescension from anyone!

According to io9, the first clip of the new series is quite frontal about the show's never-ending feminist theme: the girls are actually faced with a lumbersexual-looking guy who wants to macho up the city. While he's on it, obviously he does the same thing every single villain in the history of Townsville has done: he is condescending to the Powerpuff Girls.

On the clip entitled "Don't Called Me Princess" and taken from the show's first episode, villain Manboy arrives in a very hippie-looking Townsville to try to butch it up as Mansville. Of course, the three superheroines are not about to take that, and Buttercup, fierce as ever, goes up to this bearded baddie, who makes the very, very poor decision of calling her a "princess."

As anyone who saw the 90's show knows, it's bad enough to be condescending to any of the girls, but to even suggest Buttercup is a girly-girl is basically inviting her to punch you all the way across town.

International Business Times reports that, while the new version's animation is slightly altered, it still looks very much like the classic show, though the voices have changed. None of the original voice actors returned for the reboot, and the new show counts with Amanda Leighton as Blossom, Kristen Li as Bubbles and Natalie Palamides as Buttercup.

It's been 21 years since the first Craig McCracken Powerpuff Girls short aired on Cartoon Network, but unfortunately the show's creator isn't involved in this new project. Hopefully, after he sees how much they nailed them, he'll return!

The airdate for the Powerpuff Girls reboot is still unclear, but the show will make its world premiere next March 14 at the famed South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas.
