Season 5 of Samurai Jack has been announced to return in 2016 on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim. Twitter had lots to say about the revival of their favorite animated program starring the voice work of Phil LaMarr (Jack) and Mako (Aku).

For four seasons, Jack (LaMarr) was a time-displaced samurai, who only had one thing on his mind. He would stop at nothing to return to own timeline and defeat the tyrannical demon known as Aku (Mako). Samurai Jack continued his adventures as a short-lived comic book series from IDW Publishing.

Announced on Toonami's official Tumblr blog, "Adult Swim is excited to announce that JACK IS BACK. Creator and executive producer Genndy Tartakovsky continues the epic story of Samurai Jack with a new season of episodes that will premiere on Adult Swim's Toonami block in 2016."

According to TV Line, Cartoon Network announced that the animated series will return with brand-new episodes in 2016. This time around, it will be listed as a Toonami affair. Toonami is Cartoon Network/Adult Swim's action programming block, which is largely devoted to Japanese animation. The Toonami lineup includes One Piece, Kill LA Kill, and Naruto: Shippuden.

The new fifth season is currently in production in Los Angeles at Cartoon Network Studios. Passing away in July 21, 2006, Mako Iwamatsu was the voice actor of Aku, the main antagonist on the animated show. No word yet Aku will be voiced by someone else or if Mako's previous recordings will be reused.
