Eva Longoria, fresh off the first season of Telenovela, happens to be Victoria Beckham's best friend who, as we all know, was a pop star long before she married superstar soccer player David Beckham and turned into a fashion mogul. As the Spice Girls' breakthrough album turns 20 years old this year, Posh Spice's BFF honors the girl band -- with a very dramatic rendition of "Wannabe"!
The Desperate Housewives alum teamed up with Mashable to read the lyrics of the iconic 90's song in the best way possible: just as though the words were a soap opera's script. Showcasing her comedic talents for this reading, the actress give the world a glimpse of what she wants, what she really, really wants.
As InStyle reports, the reason for her homage to the Girl Power pop band is that they're hitting a milestone: 20 years ago, way back in 1996, the five British ladies released their first-ever album, Spice, which contained "Wannabe" as well as other hits like "2 Become One."
It was two decades ago that Beckham (then Victoria Adams) took the world by storm alongside her four pals, Melanie Brown (Scary Spice), Melanie Chisholm (Sporty Spice), Emma Bunton (Baby Spice) and Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice). Of course, we all know the story after that, from how they led a second wave of British invasion in the U.S. to how the short-lived phenomenon decreased after Halliwell left the band at the height of their success.
These days, the most famous of the Spice Girls remains Beckham, whose left music altogether to follow a career in fashion. Launching her eponymous fashion label back in 2008, at first as a novelty designer and later developing as a respected one, Beckham is currently one of the richest women in the United Kingdom -- and she's even set to design her best friend's wedding dress, as Longoria revealed weeks back!
